Fear Itself: Hulk vs. Dracula #2

So let’s talk about the book. So like a hurricane crashing into a house made of straw, Hulk is smashing the small army of monsters and supernatural creatures that Dracula has sent to try and stop him. Dracula has no choice but to let Raizo and his band of Forgiven try their luck at stopping the Hulk. While Raizo studies the evidence and devises a strategy, the Forgiven engage the Hulk directly. They manage to slow him down for a second or two but nothing can stop the Hulk. Raizo figures this out as well and announces to Dracula that there is absolutely no way that the Vampires can beat the Hulk. Then he leaves. Dracula marshals his forces and prepares for a last ditch all out attack. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. I liked this issue about as much as the last one. Another nice issue of smashing and destruction. Nothing really meaty that you can sink your teeth into but what did you expect from a Hulk vs Dracula issue. There really wasn’t any character growth or cool moments. Just some nice smashing and me laughing at the pathetic attempts the vampires make to stop the Hulk. I mean seriously, this is the character that defeated everyone during World War Hulk. What the hell are a bunch of monsters and vampires going to do against him. This whole story is just a bit of a joke to me. I understand the intention is to get the vampires involved so fans don’t forget about them and possible set-up some future minis or even an ongoing if the fan base is there. However, setting them up to get decimated by the Hulk is not really a smart way to get the fans to follow them. To me, Raizo is the only standout and potentially gamebreaker in this conflict. I have a feeling that he’s going to get some help. Someone that might actually stand a small chance in hell of fighting the Hulk. As for the art, nothing spectacular, but nothing cringe worthy either. It was just ok. As is this entire mini so far. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
