Avengers: X-​Sanction #3 Review

Cable is back!! Cap, Falcon and Iron Man have fallen to him. The Hulk has no intention on being next. Today I will be reviewing Avengers: X-Sanction #3. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

Avengers: X-​Sanction #3

So let’s talk about the book. Cable is down. The Red Hulk is too much for him too handle. And in his weakened state, he cannot resist the Techno-Organic virus from spreading or stop the Hulk from shooting him. Good thing that Blaquesmith, Cable’s time traveling friend from the future, has also come back in time and engages Rulk in battle. He manages to distract Rulk, giving Cable a chance to get back into it, but Rulk is just too strong. He is about to crush Cable until Cable does a last ditch move that manages to drop Rulk. He unleashes his TO virus on Rulk. It also stops spreading through Cable because it is now feeding on Rulk’s energies. Cable is about to put Rulk out of his misery when he is interrupted by Blaquesmith who has come with Cyclops and Hope. The reconciliation is brief as they are interrupted by Spider Man and Wolverine who plasn on stopping Cable, even if he has to kill him. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. Another issue that was a huge improvement over the last one. The action this issue was intense. The battle between Cable and Rulk was awesome but finally, in the end, reality set in and Cable got his ass handed to him. It was getting kind of ridiculous watching Cable take down the Avengers by himself. One or two, fine, but the entire team, I don’t think so. The book did have some issues. The little flashbacks and timeslides that are being put into the story are really just making it very apparent at how thin the plot really is. Cable and the readers know what’s going to happen as soon as the flashbacks occur. Also, the sarcasm and humor that was a huge presence in issue #2 was completely absent this issue. I expected more from Rulk, whom Loeb has a long history with. I expected some cynicism. All I got was a superiority complex. Rulk really didn’t take Cable seriously. That was his downfall. A good touch. Also, since when did Rulk become a team player, willing to die for his team? That was a gross character misrepresentation. On the other hand, seeing Cable reunite with his family was a very emotional moment too. It was cool having Hope play the referee between father and son. She is Cable’s protege and it is nice to see her stand up to the two men who shaped her life. Moving on to art. It was pretty good, as has been the norm for this title. It was cool to watch Rulk battle Colossus/metal Rulk. (Seriously. Why does Cable look so much like Rulk in every panel? I know McGuiness can draw individuals, His Hope and Cyclops looked awesome. Also, the Wolverine and Spidey splash on the last page was awesome. Wolverine’s face looks evil as hell. Now, with only one issue left, I hope for a great final battle. It will be nice to see Cyclops either join Wolverine to stop his son, or battle him again to save Cable’s life. Also, Spider Man is no slouch either. He’s going to be very tough to beat. Also, I hope we get some sort of point at the end. I know its all a set-up for A vs X but I still don’t want to feel like I blew $12 on some pretty fights that have no purpose in the end. Maybe I’ll be wrong. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
